F 08-03-1886 Mr. & Mrs. C. B. McCanna moved to their new residence on corner of Pine & Madison sts. Also in S 7/31/1886.
S 05-19-1883 Theodore Riel moved to house formerly occupied by Anthony Meinhardt, which Riel bought some months ago. Also in F 5/22/1883.
F 05-22-1883 Capt. S. E. Tyler to build large main part to his small building on upper end of Chestnut st.
F 05-22-1883 L. O. Whitman building large kitchen on rear of his house on Madison st.
F 05-22-1883 John Stoecker / Stacker building one or two additions to his house on Dodge st.
F 05-22-1883 Oscar Robinson building ell or small kitchen to house on Main (McHenry) st. on road to depot.
F 05-29-1883 Two story house, 8 rooms, 30 feet square, hip roof, and nearly new, with good well and cistern, four large lots, barn, and other outbuildings for sale; located in heart of village and not a five minute walk from the post office.
F 06-05-1883 Becker property on corner of Jefferson & West sts., now occupied by Miss Appleyard, bought by German Ev. Lutheran Society, which withdrew from St. John's Lutheran church on Pine st. Will build church on corner and use house as parsonage.
S 06-09-1883 Mathew Cunningham is making extensive improvements on his house on Jefferson st. by raising it and otherwise fixing it up. Also in F 6/5/1883.
S 06-09-1883 Niles Ayers is building a new house on the Rochester road just outside Burlington. S 6/23/1883 - almost completed.
S 06-16-1883 Captain Tyler building new residence on Chestnut st. just beyond the Fair Grounds.
S 06-30-1883 For sale - Frame house on the east side of Fox river occupied for last 7 years by Dr. Frederick Kords.
S 06-30-1883 Anthony Meinhardt has put a fence around his residence on Kane st.
S 06-30-1883 Matt. Cunningham building large addition to his residence on Jefferson st. Also put up fence in front part of lot.
S 07-28-1883 For sale: Brick house on Johnson st. Inquire of John Hegeman on Geneva st.
F 07-31-1883 George Ball moved to house on Benjamin Fox farm near railroad bridge and will tend farm until Mr. & Mrs. Fox return from Pacific Coast, probably next spring.
F 08-07-1883 Barney Brehm's new house on State st. nearly completed. Two story wooden structure with square or hip roof with one story addition at rear. W. A. Bennett and wife to occupy. F 8/14/1883 - square roofed house on corner of State & West st. being built under supervision of Jacob Brehm.
F 08-07-1883 Matt Cunningham house on corner of Jefferson & West sts. thoroughly rebuilt. House, formerly story and a half with one story wing, is now two stories, wing and main building; with kitchen and dining room addition at rear. F 8/14/1883 - Matt Cunningham's house completely rebuilt, remodeled, and improved; 2 stories high, full light windows, and fence, with veranda soon to be added.
F 08-14-1883 John Stoecker / Stacker house on Dodge st. at foot of Madison st. is progressing toward completion; 2 story main part with 1 story wing, both with gable roofs; veranda on southwest side in front of wing.
F 08-14-1883 Capt. S. E. Tyler's new house on upper Chestnut st. is nearly completed. Bay window and porch over front entrance. Also in S 8/11/1883.

S 08-21-1883 N. H. Ayers house a short distance from village limits - description. S 9/1/1883 - almost completed.

The Museum, History Research Library, and Pioneer Log Cabin are open Saturdays from 10 am to 2 pm or by appointment. Please email to arrange an appointment.

Whitman School is open by appointment or for special events.
