F 06-09-1885 Frank Schwaller completed new portico or veranda on his residence on Geneva st. S 6/13/1885 - portico on front of house.
F 06-09-1885 C. B. Wagner bought house and lots on Jefferson st. formerly owned by Mr. French and occupied by Wagner and family for 2 or 3 years. (George W. French in 1876 Directory.)
F 06-16-1885 John Steinhoff recently bought property near the old brick yard from F. S. Perkins. S 7/4/1885 - John Steinhoff building new barn on his farm near old brickyard. S 7/18/1885 - 28 x 40 foot barn on property he recently bought from Frank Perkins near the brick yard. F 7/28/1885 - John Steinhoff building large barn on farm bought from F. S. Perkins near old brick yard.
S 06-27-1885 Leonard Smith's new residence on Jefferson st. is fast nearing completion. S 8/8/1885 - nearing completion. Also in F 7/28/1885. S 9/5/1885 - moved in.
S 06-27-1885 C. B. Wagner is making extensive improvements on his Jefferson st. residence. F 7/21/1885 - New roof and cornice added to C. B. Wagner's house on Jefferson st. bought from Mr. French.
S 07-18-1885 Carpenter work on new Kearney residence to be completed in about 3 weeks.
S 07-25-1885 Charles Wagner improving residence on Jefferson st. by putting on a new roof and making other repairs.
S 08-01-1885 C. B. McCanna bought 2 lots on Pine st. from Fred Keuper. Proposes to build residence this coming fall and make Burlington his future home. Also in F 8/4/1885. F 8/18/1885 - C. L. Graham is contractor and builder. S 8/29/1885 - McCanna to start building residence. F 10/6/1885 - McCanna to build. F 10/20/1885 and S 10/24/1885 - ground broken.
S 08-01-1885 Chris Geheb bought meadow and timber lot, on northwest side of Rochester road about 1 mile from town, formerly belonging to the Perkins estate - 50 acre pasture.
S 08-01-1885 Dr. L. M. Kords sold residence on corner of Pine & Jefferson sts. to Dr. Rossenberry. F 8/4/1885 - Dr. A. J. Rosenberry bought and took possession (mentioned twice).
S 08-01-1885 Frank Prasch bought Lewis st. house recently built and occupied by E. C. Benson. Benson moved to another house on same street. F 8/4/1885 - Prasch bought house and lots on which it stands.
S 08-08-1885 T. M. Kearney building new residence on (northwest) corner of Jefferson & Dyer sts. S 8/22/1885 - booming up in great shape. S 9/26/1885 - receiving finishing touches.
F 08-11-1885 A. P. Coombs bought 3 lots on Lewis st. from Mrs. P. M. Perkins; will probably build next spring.
F 08-18-1885 H. Miller bought house, lots, and blacksmith shop at rear of Western Union Hotel from Albert Scheibe. F 10/13/1885 - Scheibe and family moved to Iowa.
S 08-22-1885 C. B. Wagner building story and a half addition to his residence on Jefferson st. Also in F 8/18/1885 - frame addition to rear of brick residence. S 9/5/1885 - new addition nearly complete.
F 08-25-1885 Rev. G. H. Hubbard and wife moved to Mr. Hegeman's house on Johnson st.
S 08-29-1885 C. B. McCanna will soon start building new residence on lots he recently bought. S 11/21/1885 - new McCanna residence looming up in good shape.
S 09-05-1885 Robert Norris farm of 78 acres on Kenosha rd. 4 miles east of Burlington for sale.
F 10-06-1885 F. J. Ayers to build residence on corner of Pine & State sts. F 10/27/1885 - contract awarded; house to be on part of site where Episcopal church was started some years ago and abandoned. F 11/3/1885 - ground broken. F 11/24/1885 - frame up. F 12/1/1885 - nearly enclosed.
S 10-10-1885 William Wagner and family have moved to Mrs. Schumacher's residence on Kendall st.
S 10-10-1885 Fred Uhen recently bought 45 acres a few miles east of Burlington from Judge Charles E. Dyer.
F 10-13-1885 A Helfrich bought strip of land adjoining his Pine st. premises on the south and is building a line fence and extending his picket fence.
F 10-13-1885 Residences being improved include: L. O. Whitman on Madison st.; Mrs. Campbell on Geneva st.; Mrs. T. Thorne on east side of Fox river; and C. B. Wagner on Jefferson st.
S 10-17-1885 Ole Heg moved from Waterford to Burlington with family.
F 10-20-1885 A. Meinhardt bought house and acre of ground on Liberty st. from Fellows estate.
