S 03-21-1885 T. M. Kearney bought lot opposite the Baptist church on the west, formerly the J. J. Foltz property; Kearney to build new residence (corner of Jefferson & Dyer sts.). S 4/18/1885 - lumber delivered for new residence.
F 03-31-1885 Dr. Wilbur, George Wilbur's father, bought one of J. M. Benedict's places near depot and will make Burlington his home. Also in S 4/4/1885. F 4/28/1885 - Wilbur took possession.
S 04-04-1885 Fred Johnson's barn on east side of Fox river destroyed by fire Sunday morning. Also in F 3/31/1885.
S 04-04-1885 C. Keuper making extensive improvements to the residence he recently bought on Pine st. Also in F 3/31/1885.
S 04-04-1885 For sale: House and 1 acre 3/4 mile north of Burlington on Spring Prairie rd.; contains barn, well, and cistern. Apply at Standard office - no name given.
F 04-07-1885 Charles Cocroft and family moved to Burlington; occupy north half of Durgin's stone house on Pine st.
S 04-11-1885 Leonard Smith building a new home on Jefferson st. S 3/21/1885 - new residence being built west of Fox River bridge. S 5/16/1885 & S 6/27/1885 - nearing completion.
F 04-14-1885 Mrs. Simmons bought J. N. Benedict premises occupied by H. R. Hall near depot; adjoins house and grounds formerly occupied by George Wilbur. S 4/18/1885 - another of Benedict's residences.
F 04-14-1885 Margaret Russell offers for rent 7 room house on corner of Jefferson & Johnson sts. occupied by Charles F. Keuper.
S 04-18-1885 T. M. Kearney building new residence near Baptist church (corner of Jefferson & Dyer sts.). Also in F 4/14/1885. F 7/28/1885 - nearing completion.
F 04-28-1885 F. Taentzscher and family arrive from Germany; situated in old Catholic school house on hill.
F 04-28-1885 Francis Reuschlein building addition to his residence on Geneva st. S 4/25/1885 - new kitchen.
F 04-28-1885 F. B. Norton is building an addition to his house on Jefferson st.
F 04-28-1885 J. B. Buell is building an addition to his residence on Lewis st. (later 592 Lewis st.)
F 04-28-1885 Fred. Johnson on the east side of Fox river, who lost his barn to fire, completed a new barn.
F 04-28-1885 Ellen Appleyard is building a kitchen and wood shed at the rear of her residence on Pine st.
F 05-05-1885 Chet Whitman now occupying the VanSlyke house.
F 05-05-1885 John Schroeder and Benjamin J. Bushman bought Meikins / Meakins property on corner of Pine & Washington sts. opposite Western Union Hotel; will build new block in place of old grout building now occupying lots.
S 05-09-1885 George Forge advertises 80 acre farm in town of Spring Prairie for sale.
S 05-16-1885 August Reuschlein building new kitchen at his residence on Geneva st.
F 05-19-1885 Rev. F. C. Bingham, new Baptist pastor, occupying Barney Brehm's house on Madison st.
F 05-19-1885 Mrs. Henderson's new house being built next to E. Merton's premises on Lewis st.
S 05-23-1885 Mr. & Mrs. Alex Porter reside in house on Chestnut st. formerly occupied by M. T. Hayes.
F 05-26-1885 Telephone line put up between Smith & Cunningham store and Leonard Smith's new home. Also in S 5/30/1885.
S 05-30-1885 Barns at rear of house formerly occupied by late Francis Klein consumed by fire; loss was trifling.
