Late 1851 - Joseph Thering in late 1851 put up a square stone building running it as a store. The parcel was purchased from Janus Hollister of New York and was described as a parcel known as lots 8 and 9 in block 4 of Perkins second addition to the Village of Burlington as surveyed by Moses Vilas; said lots to be fractional lots and to measure 4 rods in width from Lot 10, Block 4, and to run thence from Jefferson to Geneva streets.
