S 05-22-1880 Mr. Benedict building barn on his estate near the depot. S 5/29/1880 - estate occupied by G. H. Wilbur.
S 07-29-1869 Rev. Isaac N. Cundall and family moved to Burlington.
1869 Mrs. John S. Spoor bought house and 4 lots on corner of Jefferson & Dyer sts. House and barn still standing in 1936. Lots sold off over years and other houses built - F 8/13/36.
S 01-06-1870 Jane Cook, guardian for Richard, Betty, and George, has sale notice on lot 6, block 7, Perkins West Addition. S 1/27/1870 - George Meadows bought house and lot belonging to late John Cook on Lewis st.
S 01-13-1870 House and lot on Lewis st. near Geneva st. offered for sale by Harlan P. Crawford; 7 rooms in one part and 3 in the other. S 3/17/1870 - G. W. Bushnell bought house and lot.
S 01-20-1870 Fire in T. W. Durgin house on Pine st. occupied by Mr. & Mrs. J. L. Potter, the teacher, and Mrs. Nairn. Main building of stone damaged; back part of wood completely consumed. Cards of thanks.
S 01-20-1870 Chimney fire in Francis G. Kline / Klein residence a few rods south of St. Mary's Church did not do much damage; H. Haclscken, tenant. Editorial on protecting against chimney fires.
S 02-10-1870 R. B. Flack traded house and lot to Mr. Dunning of Ripon, who sold property to Anton Zwiebel. WCI 2/16/1870 - Richard B. Black moved to Ripon.
WCI 03-23-1870 Old Settlers of Racine established an Old Settlers Society; L. S. Blake, president, and S. B. Peck, secretary and treasurer.
S 05-05-1870 Hubert Wagner bought and moved to Jacob Kesler's brick house on Geneva st. Deacon Kesler moved to his new house on Lyons road.
S 05-26-1870 Anton Zwiebel offers for sale his former residence opposite his place of business on Chestnut st. - short article and ad.
S 06-23-1870 Fire at Christian Rasch farm about half mile west of Durgin Bridge on Gardner's Prairie destroyed barn and contents, sheep shed, and animals.
S 07-28-1870 Palmer Gardner building a fine 2-story residence on Kane st.; E. Crawford is the master builder; H. C. Conklin, the mason.
S 07-28-1870 Birsbach / Bersback building 2 story residence on north side of Fox river on banks of that stream.
S 08-18-1870 Theodore Riel is occupying the brick house of Mrs. Appleyard.
1870? Grassroots History, pp. 434-435: After Frederick Hegeman died in 1870 (Oct. 27), his wife, Anna, nee Breuchmann / Breuckman, bought a home on Jefferson st., that is now (1976) the Christian Science reading room. (1876 Directory shows Mrs. A. Hegermann, widow, residence, SE corner Johnson & Jefferson sts.) (For Sale ad in S 6/9/1870 for house with 7 rooms, kitchen, and wood shed, and 1/4 acre lot on Jefferson st. - could be this house.)
1870 According to S 9/2/38 - William C. and Margaret Wilson bought farm west of Burlington in 1870.
1870 According to F 4/28/1915 obit, George and Zabina (nee Gottschalk) Pickel moved from New Jersey to Burlington in 1870 and settled in house a short distance west of Burlington where Mrs. Pickel died.
S 09-01-1870 Edson Crawford residence is on north side of Fox river about 1 mile from center of village. Crawford bought it about 2 years ago. Was Nelson R. Norton residence for many years.
S 10-05-1870 Simeon Avery bought Allen Hedden's 118 acre farm in Spring Prairie about 2-1/2 miles west of Burlington. S 11/10/1870 - Elliott Benson bought 78 of the 118 acres from Avery. Avery and Benson trade homesteads with Avery taking old home with 2 acres across from the Fair Grounds and 12 acres of marsh land at Honey Creek.
S 11-10-1870 Simeon Avery disposed of his interest in hotel at railroad station when he bought Hedden farm.
S 11-24-1870 Estate sale: SW quarter of section 16, town 2, Kenosha County - Caleb P. Barnes / Barns.
S 03-02-1871 William Newberry building residence on lot just west of Esquire Royce's. (1876 Directory shows both on south side of Chestnut st. - Royce 4 doors and Newberry 5 doors west of Origen st.)
S 03-02-1871 August Zarneka (Zarneke) has barn up and is drawing lumber of his new house on Lewis st. (1876 Directory shows August Zarnak on south side of Lewis st., 1 door west of Conkey st.)
S 03-16-1871 Stone building and land on corner of Chestnut & Dodge sts. near the White river bridge, belonging to estate of late James Catton, to be sold April 15, 1871.
