An overheated chimney started a fire in the house on the George Norton farm, the old Crawford place, occupied by John VandeSand, on Saturday night last. The fire was probably caused by the second floor joists being too close to the chimney and becoming ignited by the heat from the chimney. It was put out after a piece of flooring had been torn out and the fire located. The loss is about $25 and is insured in the town company. |
