S 08-30-1940 Mr. & Mrs. Carlyle Reed moved from Edward st. to Davenport, Iowa.
S 08-30-1940 Mrs. Elsie Thoreson bought and remodeled Wheeler residence on Edward st. into 2 flats. Frank Christien rented one flat and Herman Paepke the other.
Sept. 3, 1940 Common Council meeting: Council rejected proposal by Mrs. W. A. Prouty that the city take over her homestead property at 658 Conkey st., under certain conditions involving her care and the maintenance of the property, with the property to go to the municipality after her death. Similar proposals had been rejected in the past.
Sept. 3, 1940 Common Council voted to sell lot 19, Prasch's subdivision, to John Francis Langley and Marie Elizabeth Langley. F 9/5/40 - Frank Langley bought piece of property that city acquired from tax delinquent party.
F 09-05-1940 John Maxfield intends to build on property next to Gun Club just northwest of the ball park.
F 09-05-1940 Mr. & Mrs. William Hoelz moved to home at 614 East st., recently purchased from George Price estate. Also in S 9/13/40.
F 09-05-1940 Dan Cornelier / Corneiller bought lot on West Geneva st. from Mrs. Sarah Richtman; will build house. S 9/20/40 - building house. Oct. 11, 1940 - house on Geneva st. in Richtman's addition to the township of Burlington. Nov. 6, 1940, council meeting - application for annexation approved.
F 09-05-1940 Mr. & Mrs. Phil Sheridan rented Mrs. Henrietta Fratt residence on Perkins blvd. S 9/6/40 - Mr. & Mrs. Philip Sheridan and children moved to Fratt residence on Perkins blvd.
S 09-06-1940 Mr. & Mrs. Gilbert Dennis and family and his father moved to residence on corner of Lewis & Origen sts. that they bought.
F 09-12-1940 Fire at Anthony Coppersmith residence, 574 Main st., destroyed sizable portion of interior.
F 09-12-1940 Mr. & Mrs. Claude Hathorn rented Mrs. Jennie Shields residence on Chestnut st.
F 09-12-1940 Henry Neubert rented Mrs. Maude Mathews residence on Kane st. and will move family there. Also in S 9/13/40.
